Elegant and athletic, the Basenji is alert, active, and extremely intelligent. They are very independent and sometimes aloof, but can form strong bonds with people. They love to please and should be trained from an early age. They are best suited to suburban living, but can do well in apartments if sufficiently exercised. They are known as a non-barking breed. (pronounced ba sin gee)
