Charming, upbeat, and intelligent, Beagles make great family pets. They are friendly and gentle, suited to country or suburb living. They are generally loyal, but independent, too—when they’re “on scent” they’ll block out everything else.

Originating in England, the Beagle was bred for the hunting—it still follows its nose wherever it goes.

  

Small Breed; Weight: 20-30 lbs. Height at the shoulders: 13-15 in.

Beagles need a lot of daily exercise, preferably in a fenced-in yard.

A short, hard coat requires minimal brushing. Average shedders.

Excellent playmates for kids.

Usually get along very well with other animals.

 

Glaucoma, epilepsy, inter-vertebral disc disease, and congenital heart disease.
