Family of Pets wants you to ask these questions before you buy . . . |
| |
Before you get too far along in your decision to get a new puppy. . . do yourself and your
family and that puppy a favor and do a little research . . . ask yourself these questions: |
| |
| |
- What are my living conditions?
Do I live in an apartment? Are there restrictions or fees attached to owning a dog in my building? Do I have a yard? |
| |
| |
- How old are my children?
Toddlers love puppies . . . maybe a little too much! What size dog is appropriate for my
kids? What kind of personality would work best . . . energetic, playful, quiet, aloof
but protective? |
| |
| |
- How active is my lifestyle?
Do I work long hours that would leave my puppy alone for extended periods of time? Do
I need a puppy that doesn’t mind not getting outside very often to play? Would a dog
that loves to run be better as a companion for me when I exercise outside? |
| |
| |
- Can I really afford a dog?
Can I afford to keep my puppy healthy by keeping up the vaccinations? Will I buy the
right food even if it costs a little more? Will I take him to the Vet like I take my children to
the doctor? Will I incur the expense of spaying or neutering as recommended? |
| |
| |
- What do I really want from a dog?
Do I want a dog to sit quietly in my lap while I watch TV? Do I want a dog that wants to
play all the time, with lots of energy and curiosity? |
