Athletic, intelligent, and cheerful. The German Pointer makes an excellent family companion. They are friendly, willing to please, energetic, and love being outdoors doing such activities as Frisbee, hiking, or hunting. They are best suited to suburban or country living.

Developed by 19th century German hunters.

  

Large Breed. Weight: 45-70 lbs. Height at the shoulders: 21-25 in.


German Pointers need vigorous daily exercise.

A short, dense coat requires regular grooming. Average shedders.

They are best with older and considerate children.

Generally get along well with other pets if raised with them from puppyhood.

 
Hip dysplasia, epilepsy, gastric torsion, and entropion.
