A perky, athletic, and spirited terrier that makes a loyal and loving companion. Jack Russells are friendly, curious, courageous, and they take very well to training. They are suited to either apartment or country living.

Developed in 19th-century England by clergyman Jack Russell, the terrier was originally used to hunt small game.

Their short double-coat requires minimal grooming. Average shedder.

Good playmates for kids if they have been raised with them from puppyhood.

Not to be trusted with non-canine pets. May be aggressive to same-sex dogs.

Usually very healthy, but can be susceptible to eye problems and dislocated kneecaps.
