Dainty and elegant, the Papillon makes a playful and devoted pet. They are gentle, affectionate, and very trainable for obedience. They love to cuddle, but they also love to play outdoors.

Named after the French word for butterfly because of their beautifully shaped ears, the Papillon was extremely popular in royal courts (Marie Antoinette is said to have carried hers' to the guillotine!).
Very Small Breed. Weight: 5-11 lbs. Height at the shoulders: 8-11 in.
Papillons need very little exercise.
A long, silky, straight coat requires daily grooming. Average shedder.
Best with older, more considerate children.
Generally gets along well with other animals.
Progressive retinal atrophy and patellar luxation. Teeth need regular care.
Papillons can be difficult to housebreak, thus they need a firm owner and patient training.
