Perky, loyal, and playful, the Pug makes a great family dog. They are affectionate, loving, funny and do well with visitors and other pets. They can be rambunctious. They are suited to apartment or suburban living.

One of the oldest breeds, the pug is thought to have originated around 400 BC in Tibetan monasteries. It is thought to have descended from far larger Mastiff type breeds. It have been popular with both royalty and aristocracy in England.

  

Small Breed. Weight: 14-18 lbs. Height at the shoulders: 10-13 in.


Pugs need very little exercise.

Short, smooth coats require very little grooming. Seasonally heavy shedders.

Excellent with children.

Generally good with other animals.

 
Epilepsy, patellar luxation, skin, eye and respiratory problems.
